Admissions Essay Composition
Find Your story
At Endeavor we believe that writing a good admissions essay can be rewarding. It is your one chance to tell your story, to think about times in your life that have been important to you and to explain why. The hardest part of a good admissions essay is finding the right story. At Endeavor we start by thinking about the story that puts your candidacy in the strongest light without sacrificing originality and creativity. Make a rough draft
The hardest part of writing is starting to write. You just have to get down and get something on paper. Organize your story into distinct moments. Figure out how the story you are telling highlights different aspects of your personality or demonstrates your particular insight into a situation, and turn those different strengths and insights into paragraphs.
Get Feedback and Redraft
You aren't going to write a good essay if you don't get feedback. At Endeavor we are here to give you the best feedback possible. Showing your work to your tutor should be exciting and fun. We will then work through your draft together and clarify your ideas. Good writing requires many versions and iterations, and that is why the next step of the process is to go back and edit again. It might take four or five times until it is just right, but when it is, you'll feel satisfied and accomplished.
